Plot[]
July 12, 2008[]
Miles, a 14-year-old kid is home alone one night during the middle of summer after his parents had left for that weekend for a work trip. Miles wakes up at around 8 PM after a nap, having some homework left to do for school. Feeling hungry, he plans to eat something before getting to work, as he wouldn't be able to focus otherwise.
Miles' mother informs him that she has cooked some lasagna that's been left in the fridge. He heats the lasagna in the oven and proceeds to watch TV while eating. During this, he receives a text from his friend 'Mason Oliver' who informs him he cannot attend their arrangement due to a scheduling conflict, leaving Miles home alone for the night. Miles starts work on his chemistry assignment after eating and then heads to bed hours later.
July 13, 2008[]
At 1:16 AM, about half an hour after falling asleep, Miles wakes up feeling thirsty. He heads downstairs to fetch a bottle of water from the fridge but receives a concerning text message from his mother, which contains a picture of a man outside the front of their house; the picture had been taken from Miles' concerned neighbor Paula, who had seen the man on their property for some time. Miles' mother instructs him to lock all the doors and wait until the police arrive.
While hiding underneath his bed, Miles hears the sound of a window shattering from the master bedroom. Soon after, Paula begins ringing the doorbell. Miles is initially reluctant to exit his room until he is informed of this, but as he reaches the stairs, he sees his parents' bedroom door open and the intruders shadow waiting ominously for him. Terrified, Miles rushes back to his room and takes shelter until the police arrive. With the stranger having escaped from the house, Miles is able to go downstairs and meet Paula outside his front door.
